Addressing Wellness and Lifestyle
Addiction is a disease that attacks ALL aspects of one's life, and taking care of one's physical and spiritual health is of paramount importance. Many individuals in active addiction and alcoholism may neglect their health, bodies, household and hobbies which they are passionate about.
An Everyday Practice
In sobriety, the practice of self-love includes maintaining a healthy diet, participating in physical activity, and cultivating a mindfulness and meditation practice. We strongly believe that an important aspect of wellness is for individuals to partake in activities outside of the therapeutic programming that bring joy. Commitment to these practices help to build self-esteem and are supportive to long-term sobriety.
At Eden Hill we promote wellness by offering a weekly yoga and meditation group, complimentary gym membership, a refrigerator and pantry filled with healthy and nutritious ingredients and home-cooked meals each night of the week.
We believe lifestyle wellness is also built by completing smaller tasks such as making one's own bed first thing in the morning, completing daily chores, and developing healthy sleep and eating routines that include cooking periodically for the group. Having a regular schedule throughout the day builds time
management and accountability skills as guests are responsible for completing house duties, attending all groups, individual appointments, and group activities on time to advance in the Phase System
